Across the UK today 6.5 million people are Carers, supporting a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill.
That’s 1 in 8 adults who care, unpaid, for family and friends.
A Carer is someone who provides unpaid help and support on a regular basis to a relative, neighbour or friend who is unable to manage at home due to age, a long term health condition or disability.
Our Carer's Support Worker Ros provides a wide range of support to anyone in a caring role. She can help with information about practical support, by accessing a break through the Health & Social Care Team, making a referral for Finance/Benefit checks and linking you to other local Carer's groups.
If you know of a Carer (including young people) who needs help, please contact us. Also check out the Carer's board in our lobby.
We think that there are 16,000 unpaid carers in Torbay. Are you one? Links about financial support, young carers, juggling work with caring etc..
We talk to Katy Heard (Torbay Carers Service) & Ann Balsom (Carer) about the support available for unpaid carers.
Looking after your loved ones can be tough, but you’re not on your own. Led by carers, we’re here to give you expert help & support.
As the UK's only national membership charity for carers, Carers UK is both a support network and a movement for change.
The Carers Trust has 144 carers' centres across the UK where you can find information, emotional support and training in skills such as first aid and stress reduction.
If you're a carer, there are many organisations that can provide practical and financial help, as well as short breaks from caring. You can find information and advice here.
